The Leather
The leather industry is one of the oldest in human history. Our most distant ancestors used skins to protect their bodies, hands and feet. Leather is made from the skin of any mammal, reptile, bird or fish through a process called tanning. This process preserves the skin which would otherwise rot quickly.
The first leathers were made from cowhide, cowhide, pigskin. The skins came from animals hunted or raised for food
The + of Leather
Genuine leather is a natural product. It breathes, is warm and has characteristics unique to each unique skin. Over time and with use, leather develops a patina that emphasizes beauty.
The - of Leather
It is important to note that full grain leather or natural leathers are more fragile, they should not be cleaned with water, or any product sold in drugstores which could cause irreparable damage.
Take care of your leather pieces
Use a cloth soaked in leather soap (without detergent). Apply the cloth to the surface to be cleaned in a circular motion, rotating the cloth regularly. Use a soft bristle brush if the leather is too grainy (calf, buffalo ...). Avoid aggressive friction. Repeat the process if necessary.
Do not use liquids or cleaning products unless specifically recommended by a professional (not a dealer).
Do not clean too often, leather generally requires little maintenance! Twice a year is enough.
