Rhodium Plated Silver

The Silver plated jewelry is designed from a poor metal covered with a layer of pure silver deposited by electrolysis.
The process consists in immersing the jewel in a solution containing silver ions and by circulating a current; this causes the deposition of these ions on any metal jewelry.
The surface layer of silver can be a few microns thick up to several tenths of a millimeter. The amount of money actually used is extremely small.
In order to give them a beautiful shine, a thin layer of rhodium is applied.
