375 ‰ white gold, also called 9-carat gold, is composed of an alloy of 37.5% pure gold and 62.5% silver and copper. Its reduced gold content allows the production of jewelry with the appearance and shine equivalent to that of a 750 ‰ gold jewel, while reducing their cost.
Composition of 375 blanc white gold: 37.5% fine gold + 62.5% silver.
In recent years, 375 ‰ gold has experienced impressive growth due to the significant increase in the price of gold on the market.
Its reduced gold content allows the production of jewelry with the appearance and shine equivalent to that of a 750 ‰ gold jewel, while reducing their cost.
Since it contains months of gold, a 375 ‰ jewel will tend to be a little harder than the 750 ‰. However, it will be less solid (harder = more brittle) and therefore more sensitive to repeated shocks and pressures.
Regarding wear, the significant presence of other metals in the 375 ‰ alloy will cause it to oxidize more easily and lose its shine more quickly. It will also be more sensitive to chemicals, perspiration and water.
As a rule, a 375 ‰ gold jewel is less resistant to time than the 750 ‰.
If you want to restore the shine to your jewel we can repolish it and re-rhodium it.
